The journey
What this program is.
Acts names Puteoli, modern Pozzuoli, before Paul's journey to Rome. The program studies that arrival and the world of the Roman Christians. It does not claim that every church on the route stood in Paul's lifetime.
A pastor leads the biblical study. Catholic groups can travel the same route, with Mass arranged separately. The label describes the program, not who may come.
How this journey is experienced
Who leads
A pastor leads the biblical study. Worship format is set with that leader.
In the program
Pozzuoli's ancient harbor, the Appian Way, an accessible catacomb, ancient Rome, and St. Paul Outside the Walls, which marks the traditional burial place.
By request
Mass for Catholic groups, arranged with a priest and the site. Ostia Antica, or a free day in Rome. A Vatican visit, described as Vatican City rather than as an archaeological stop in Italy.
The Scriptural Atlas
Every day, a chapter.
Day 1 · Acts 27:44
The voyage comes ashore
Naples·Night in Naples
Arrival in Naples, with a welcome and an introduction to the Bay. Vesuvius stands across the water Paul sailed toward.
“And so it came to pass, that they escaped all safe to land.”
Acts 27: the voyage to Italy.
Vesuvius across the Bay of Naples.
The sites
Day by day
A framework, not a held departure.
Practical considerations
Walking
Cobbles, stairs, and several days on foot in Rome.
Catacombs
Enclosed passages. A surface alternative is planned for travelers who cannot enter.
Churches
Sites are not claimed as buildings that stood in Paul's lifetime.
Vatican
If added, it is a visit to Vatican City, not an archaeological stop in Italy.

What this journey is not
- The program does not claim that every church visited stood in Paul's lifetime.
- It is not a tour of footsteps of Paul across all of Italy.
- The Peter-and-Paul connection at the Mamertine Prison, if a variant uses it, is tradition.
- A Vatican visit is a visit to Vatican City, not an archaeological stop in Italy.
What can be arranged
- Ostia Antica, for the Roman-world context
- A free day in Rome
